Speech Recognition
TA+ POWERED BY SPEECHMAGIC™
TA+ Powered by SpeechMagic delivers the seamless integration of Nuance’s automatic speech recognition technology to the TA+ platform. When adding this server-based component to TA+, system users receive all the benefits of automatic speech recognition (ASR) technology without adding more interfaces and complicating their vendor structure. TA+ powered by SpeechMagic delivers cost savings and improved turnaround times to promote patient care. Physicians benefit with faster access to completed transcripts. TA+ Powered by SpeechMagic includes a passive ‘behind the scenes’ preliminary phase where traditionally created transcripts are sent through the ASR servers to improve initial accuracy rates.

HOW TA+ POWERED BY SPEECHMAGIC WORKS
- Speech recognition integrates with all major EMR, HIS, PACs, PAS and RIS systems and vendors via TA+
- ASR integrates with TA+ workflow without launching a separate application
- TA+ powered by SpeechMagic utilizes familiar TA+ templates
- All TA+ dictation methods and devices are compatible with TA+ powered by SpeechMagic
- TA+ reporting includes configurable reports to analyze dictator and worktype accuracy and improvement
- Typical correctionist becomes up to forty percent more productive
- The speech recognition engine uses “context’ of words, phrases, sentences and template headings to:
- Deliver impressive accuracy rates, without dictator voice training, due to passive, ‘behind the scenes’ learning
- Delete the “ums” and “ehs” and disregard comments that are not part of patient care
- Format and organize text with headings and numbered lists
- Constantly adapt to user’s specific dialect, accent and habits
- Insert correct punctuation, whether spoken or assumed by voice patterns
- Continuously improve accuracy from editing feedback of correctionists and or dictators
CONFIGURATION OPTIONS WITH TA+ POWERED BY SPEECHMAGIC
- Speech recognition servers may reside within the customer site or in AAI’s ASP data center
- Speech recognition is offered as site-licensed software by dictator or via ASP, pay by the line
- Customer configures which dictators and which worktypes are ‘turned on’ for speech recognition
- Customer sets a threshold error value which determines if a job goes to ASR or traditional transcription
- A 2nd threshold value allows ASR transcripts to go straight to dictators for e-sign, bypassing correctionists completely
- All error thresholds are configured for each physician and worktype
BACK-END SPEECH RECOGNITION
- Back-end ASR is seamless for dictators, who may not even realize that speech recognition is being utilized
- Back-end ASR sends the voice file through the speech server and produces a ‘recognized’ text file in TA+ immediately
- TA+ workflow delivers the draft text file to a correctionist for review and editing
- Established TA+ workflow continues after correctionist completes review of the text file for e-sign and or routing
FRONT-END SPEECH RECOGNITION
- Front-end ASR sends the dictation file through the speech engine and produces a text file within TA+ immediately
- TA+ workflow delivers a TA+ template with the draft text file to the dictator for immediate review, edit and e-sign
- If the dictation or transcription editing becomes complex, the dictator may send the document to the transcription department for traditional handling and proceed to the next dictation at any time in the process
